Everton Football Club have played more top flight games than any other English team. Founded in 1878, Everton were founding members of the Football League and they have competed in the top division for a record 108 seasons. Everton have been in the top division of English football since 1954.

Everton have won the League Championship (now the Premier League) nine times, the fourth most of any team. Everton’s most recent successful period was in the mid 1980’s when they won two League Championships, an FA Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1985. Their last major trophy was the FA Cup in 1995.

Everton’s home ground is Goodison Park in Liverpool, where they have been based since 1892. Everton’s main rivals are close city neighbours Liverpool. Everton have struggled to compete for top honours over recent years and haven’t been able to compete in the transfer market due to financial constraints. The manager, David Moyes, is well regarded and their fans must hope that the financial situation can be sorted out sufficiently in order to allow the club to bring in some top class players in order to compete at the highest levels of the Premier League and in Europe.
