Here is United’s new home shirt and kit for the 2013-14 season. The new kit is made
Manchester United’s new kit launches are some of the most anticipated thanks to their
massive worldwide following. Leaked images of the new kit have been doing the rounds
on the web for a few weeks and today’s official launch confirms that many of the
images were accurate.
For the 2013/14 season Nike and United have gone for a clean, classic look. The shirt
is red with a black, buttoned down collar.
Here’s how United described the new Red Devil’s kit on their official website.
‘United’s new home shirt for 2013/14 takes inspiration from the club’s success and
Manchester’s industrial heritage.
The kit features the return of the black collar, a popular and evocative symbol ever
since Eric Cantona wore it upturned in the 1990s. This season’s tailored, button-down
collar boasts three buttons at the front and one at the back, a modern twist that’s
also intrinsically Mancunian.
Clean and classic, the new kit features a single shade of red, although the gingham-inspired
check design that characterised last season’s shirt (and was such a feature of Manchester’s
cotton mills in the 18th Century) still makes an appearance – in tonal black and
grey, underneath the collar and in two side vents on the shirt’s hem.
The new home shorts are white with a thin black stripe on the hem at the back, while
the socks are the customary black and feature a white stripe between two red stripes
– a design that replicates the popular United bar scarves – halfway up the leg. This
makes it easier for players to pick out team-mates on the pitch.’

Here is the new Manchester United away shirt and kit for the 2013/14 season. The
new strip is made by Nike and AON are the main sponsors.
The new United away kit features the iconic gingham check from Manchester's industrial
heritage. Gingham featured on United's home shirt last season but the design on the
2013/14 away shirt is bigger and bolder.
The shirt’s large black-and-midnight navy gingham checks represent Manchester’s proud
industrial past when the check was produced in the city’s booming cotton mills in
the 18th century. The new shirt also features a black crew neck collar and a white
woven devil from the United club crest inside the back of the neck. The club crest
at the heart of the jersey is an embroidered monochromatic midnight navy and white.
The new away shorts are midnight navy with a thin navy blue stripe on the back hem,
and the away socks are navy blue with a white stripe between two black stripes, along
with the traditional United bar design as you can see in the pictures.
No doubt the jokes will flow about table cloths and picnics but what do you think
to the new away kit? Comments welcome on our blog here.
