Reading Football Club were established in 1871 and are one of the oldest clubs in England, although they didn’t join The Football League until 1920. The club played at Elm Park for 102 years before moving to the new Madejski Stadium on the outskirts of Reading in 1998. The stadium is named after the club’s chairman, Sir John Madejski.

Reading hold the record for the number of successive league wins at the start of a season and also the record number of points won in a professional league season (106 points).

Reading gained promotion to the Premier League last season (2011-12) and will be looking to establish themselves in the top tier of English football.
